We’re excited to announce our investment in NROC Security, a Finnish-American company building the infrastructure to help enterprises embrace generative AI – safely.
The new funding will accelerate NROC’s growth amid surging demand for GenAI security solutions that help prevent data leaks, compliance risks, and policy violations when employees use tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and other GenAI app interfaces.
Leo Capital joined the $2M seed round alongside Great North Ventures (lead), Icebreaker VC, and angel investors including Hannu Turunen (co-founder of Stonesoft).
Our investment reflects Leo’s continued commitment to backing deeply technical, globally ambitious teams from day one, particularly those operating across the EU–US–India corridor.
The Productivity Boom – and the Privacy Crisis
The rise of generative AI has unlocked a new wave of enterprise productivity.
GenAI usage falling into three buckets:
- Personal productivity (employees using tools like ChatGPT to speed up their work),
- Business process automation (AI embedded into SaaS workflows), and
- Strategic AI (org-wide initiatives like proprietary models).
Right now, the fastest-growing and riskiest category is personal productivity, where adoption is outpacing policy. Many companies still assume one enterprise tool is enough, but employees are already using a mix of GenAI apps in the wild.
This transformation brings real risk
Enterprises aren’t short on GenAI ambition. They’re short on visibility. In NROC Security’s experience, nearly 70% of the usage is on personal apps or plans, where visibility or risk mitigation is not possible using traditional security architectures. NROC Security isn’t just solving a security problem – they’re enabling responsible GenAI adoption.
Security teams inside enterprises are now faced with a core challenge – How do you enable your workforce to use these tools – without opening the door to massive data exposure and compliance breaches?
The risk isn’t that GenAI tools are malicious – it’s that employees are sharing sensitive data with platforms outside the organization’s control. Without guardrails, even harmless short prompts can cause a big exposure in aggregate.
The result: a “shadow AI usage” inside the enterprise – employees using GenAI tools through personal accounts, beyond the reach of traditional security controls.
That’s the gap NROC Security is solving.
The GenAI Security Proxy
NROC’s solution is a network-based AI Security Proxy that sits between users and GenAI apps – seamlessly integrating into existing infrastructure like secure web gateways. With no endpoint agents or browser extensions required, NROC enables enterprises to:
- Enforce security and usage policies (on both prompts and responses)
- Monitor and log all GenAI interactions
- Prove compliance for audit and governance purposes
Deployment takes days, not months, which makes the platform truly enterprise-ready.
The Team
The core team of Antti, Markus and Ville have a combined 60 years of business and technology experience, with a spike in network security. With cybersecurity roots at F-Secure, Forcepoint, and Tietoevry Tech Services, scaleup experience at Enfuce and AI/ML business at Vaisala, the team combines the clarity of operators with the discipline of infrastructure builders.
Why We’re Excited
- Timing
GenAI is the fastest enterprise technology adoption curve in history—but security and trust infrastructure are still catching up. NROC Security arrives at exactly the right moment. - Technology
The architecture is modular, standards-aligned, and built for scale. It integrates cleanly into existing enterprise security stacks and supports cross-border compliance. - Global Fit
With headquarters in both Finland and the US—and eyes on Asia—NROC Security is a natural fit for Leo’s cross-border investment thesis. The market is global, and so is the team.
